PSI limited, are delighted to be supporting pupils at Inverkeithing high school who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering by running an engineering award programme.
The programme will offer students an insight into how industry works and give them exposure to individuals working in industry now. It aims to identify key skills that shine through in the students such as communication, report writing, commitment & time management as well as giving them the opportunity to experience first-hand what a career in Engineering could be like.
Our engineering team have set a challenge for interested pupils in S5 & S6 to come up with a product design of their choice, and prepare a report and presentation on how their product design has evolved from conception to sales. This will provide a great insight as to the real world development of a product. The pupils were given a few hints during the presentation of the programme of other key aspects such as the importance of showing the various design ideas and changes that the product may have been through, as this shows the real world evolution of a product, and also how once the product design is complete how the product could be taken to other markets or further developed to extend its life span in the market.
At the end of the academic year there will be an award presented to the winner at the Schools annual academic awards ceremony and a number of pupils will be invited for an interview with a chance of being offered a place in PSI's modern apprentice programme.
